The Chemistry degree program is a first-class master's degree granting program approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council in 2018, which mainly relies on the innovation platforms such as the Key Laboratory of Advanced Mass Spectrometry Technology and Molecular Detection in Zhejiang Province to carry out scientific research, student cultivation and other related work.

This degree program includes five distinctive disciplines of physical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, analytical chemistry and polymer chemistry and physics.
Research Level:
In the past five years, we have undertaken more than 800 scientific research projects, including 157 projects at provincial and ministerial levels, including the National Major Scientific Instrument Development Project, the National Key Research and Development Program, and the National Outstanding Youth Fund, etc., with an average annual scientific research funding of more than 400,000 yuan. We have published more than 1600 SCI or EI papers in authoritative academic journals at home and abroad, including more than 50 papers in top journals such as PNAS, Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. and J. Am. Chem. Soc. and so on; more than 100 papers have been selected as ESI Highly Cited; we have authorized 471 patents for national inventions, and transferred more than 30 patents; Chemistry has been entered into the top 5 per cent of the global ESI. Science and Education Integration or Industry-Education Integration:
This degree program has built special high-end platforms such as Institute of Advanced Separation Materials and Institute of Mass Spectrometry Technology and Application, and has co-constructed a number of platforms for science-teaching integration and industry-teaching integration in cooperation with local governments and enterprises.
Guided by the dynamics of the frontier development of the discipline and the needs of regional economic development, this degree program focuses on the development of mass spectrometry analysis and detection, organic synthesis chemistry and process, inorganic synthesis and functional crystal growth, molecular sieve and membrane separation, so as to make the discipline of Chemistry gradually become a high-level scientific and technological innovation and entrepreneurship talent training base, a scientific and technological support point for the development of the local economy, and to gradually become a first-rate discipline in China. The cultivation of postgraduates of this degree emphasizes the combination of basic research with technical application and technical service, and cultivates innovative and entrepreneurial talents with solid theoretical foundation in chemistry and high quality practical ability.
Characteristics of Organic Chemistry Direction: Focusing on the origin of life and macromolecule synthesis issues, we carry out research in the directions of phosphorus catalysis and regulation of living substances, the relationship between phosphorus and the chemistry of life, the mechanism of formation of chiral living substances, and the rational design and synthesis of metal-organic catalysts. To promote the in-depth application of the laws of life phosphorus chemistry and chiral science in the process of new drug creation, to elaborate the key biological functions of N-phosphorylation modification of proteins in organisms, and to reveal the regulatory role of phosphorus in the origin of the chemistry of life and the evolution process.
Specialties of Analytical Chemistry: Focusing on mass spectrometry technologies and methods, key scientific issues in the analysis of opto-electromagnetic biosensing, we have developed mass spectrometry technologies such as novel mass analyzers, ion sources and ion optics, and developed new strategies for the analysis of markers related to major diseases, among which the ion trap technology has reached the international advanced level and has been translated.
Inorganic Chemistry: focusing on the design, synthesis and single crystal growth of inorganic functional compounds and functional crystal materials such as light, electricity and magnetism and other key scientific issues, the company has developed high-performance and low-cost scintillator crystals and ferroelectric crystals and other component optimization and growth technologies, with a number of achievements reaching the international advanced level and achieving industrialization, with an output value of more than 200 million yuan.
Features of Physical Chemistry Direction: Focusing on scientific issues such as micro mesoscopic regulation of molecular separation and catalytic process, surface interface chemistry, molecular identification and separation, molecular activation mechanism, etc., we carry out research on the design and synthesis of porous framework materials, transfer mechanism, catalytic properties, and so on. Facing the major applications in the fields of energy, environment and resources, we carry out the scaling-up research on MOF molecular sieve membranes, and realize the large-scale microwave synthesis of zeolite molecular sieve membranes and the production of e-chemical applications.
Features of Polymer Chemistry and Physics Direction: Focusing on the key scientific issues of structure regulation and function regulation in the synthesis and processing of polymer materials, the department conducts basic research on molecular design, physical mechanism and processing principle in the direction of special polyolefins, functionalized elastomers, biopolymers and so on.

Materials and Chemical Engineering is a professional master's degree authorization point approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council in 2019. It carries out scientific research, student training and other related work on the basis of innovative platforms such as the cultivation base of the State Key Laboratory of New Functional Materials and Their Preparation Science, which is jointly built by the province and the ministry.
The main research direction of the degree program:
Optical Electromagnetic Nuclear Functional Materials and Technology, Polymer and Composite Materials Preparation and Processing Engineering, Energy Materials and Surface Engineering, Biomedical Chemistry.
Research Level:
In the past five years, the degree program has 385 vertical research projects with a total funding of 115 million yuan, including 124 horizontal projects with a total funding of 50.32 million yuan. The discipline of materials science on which the degree program is based maintains the top 5‰ of ESI globally.

The research topics are combined with the needs of enterprises to carry out project cooperation, product development, testing and transformation of technological achievements. Cultivation Characteristics:
Focusing on the needs of the two pillar industries of new materials and chemical engineering in Ningbo, this degree program is mainly oriented to the materials and chemical engineering industry and related engineering departments to cultivate applied and compound high-level engineering technology and engineering management talents with solid foundation, comprehensive quality, strong engineering practice ability and certain innovation and entrepreneurial ability. The degree program pays special attention to the cultivation of engineering practice ability of graduate students and carries this cultivation purpose throughout the whole cultivation process. According to the industrial characteristics of materials and chemical engineering, the degree program arranges students to engage in internship and practical activities in leading scientific and technological enterprises or industrial scientific research institutes, so as to improve their ability to discover, analyze and solve practical problems in this engineering field.
